This blog post is special to me not only because I got to photograph an engagement session in Newfoundland, but I got to photograph my cousin’s engagement session! There is something so special about photographing someone you knew all of your life, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to have been chosen as JD’s and Megan’s photographer! I remember visiting my cousin Megan as a kid, playing Monopoly (my favorite), exploring together in their backyard, quading and just having fun! Visiting these two for a week definitely brought back those memories and I genuinely loved getting to know these two as a couple even more!
My time in Newfoundland was a bit chilly, but these two braved the high winds!! Megan had a cold AND she was wearing a dress! Despite the chilly winds, these two did so amazing!
This was my first time in Newfoundland and I can finally say I have been in the Easternmost part of Canada. Everything was beautiful from the rich colours, the unique architecture (I especially love the houses), the fresh air, deep blue water, and hearing the waves crash against the big rocks! It was all so amazing. While it was snowing in Grande Prairie, at the time, I was so surprised to see that it was still fall in Newfoundland. To maximize JD’s and Megan’s engagement session experience, we captured their photos at a nearby park with beautiful colorful leaves, while also leaving some time to capture some beautiful portraits of the two of them by the ocean. The white lighthouse was definitely one of my favorites. This included Cape Spear and Ferryland, a place that tells a part of JD’s and Megan’s love story!
JD and Megan thank you so much for having me capture your engagement photos at one of the most beautiful places on Earth. After spending a week with you two, I can see how perfect you two are for each other! You two are cat lovers, love board games (like me!) and always bringing joy in each other lives. I am very much looking forward to capturing your wedding day this coming July!
Your Cousin & Photographer,
Kayla
