Chris & Teagan | Grande Prairie Wedding | Kayla Lynn Photography

There are some people who we could just photograph for a crazy amount of time and still not get tired of it, and Chris & Teagan are definitely one of those couples!! We kept finding little excuses and ways to sneak in even more couples’ pictures together because these two are just so much fun and so enjoyable to capture! Photographing the love between them and their family and friends was such a privilege and not something we’ll soon forget!

Teagan & Chris had such a beautiful Catholic ceremony at St. Joseph’s in Grande Prairie. However, since that meant that there wasn’t a designated part of the ceremony for them to recite their own personalized vows, they wanted to find another way to incorporate that into their day! So they had the brilliant idea of writing their own vows and reading them to each other during their first look instead! It was such a meaningful moment and everyone was pretty emotional by the end; you could really see the care and thought that each of them had poured into the writing and it was so sweet!

Teagan had mentioned how she really wanted a beautiful foresty look to their photos, so we knew that we definitely needed to make that happen! We were able to take the first look photos, bridal party pictures, and bride & groom portraits at O’Brien Provincial Park and it did not disappoint!!

Another super special moment of the day was Teagan’s first look with her dad. These first looks can easily be one of the biggest highlights from the entire morning because it is such a meaningful moment to see a father’s face when he beholds his little girl for the first time as a bride! You just know how many years of love and hardwork parents have poured into the bride to help grow her into the woman she is today, and to see them facing and accepting the reality of her growing up and getting married just hits so hard in that moment!

Chris & Teagan’s reception was an absolute hoot, complete with a live band, delicious candy bar and stunning decorations thanks to Rhonda from Changing Dream Into Reality! The family property they were able to use for their venue was an absolute dream and we LOVED getting to sneak them away for some additional bride & groom portraits during the evening! Everyone had such a wonderful time and it was so special to get to see all their friends and family come together after needing to postpone their original wedding date due to Covid. I think we could all agree that it was definitely worth the wait!!

Chris & Teagan, thank you so much for your unwavering trust in us as photographers and for letting us capture your gorgeous day!!! We loved getting to witness your beautiful commitment to each other, and we hope that this is just the beginning of many wonderful adventures together as husband & wife! You are such a beautiful couple and we were absolutely blown away by how kind and considerate you both are. We are so excited for what the future holds for you!!

Matteo & Brianne | Grande Prairie Wedding | Kayla Lynn Photography

grande prairie wedding photos with brianne and matteo at st joseph catholic church bridal details in grande prairie alberta

Matteo and Brianne’s wedding day was filled with such love, joy, and beauty. They had a beautiful Catholic ceremony at St. Joseph’s, which is easily one of my favourite churches to photograph in because it is so beautifully bright and filled with natural light! Surrounded by their friends and family, it was easy to tell how loved these two are and how supported they are as they officially embraced this new chapter of their lives!

Having a wedding at the end of May as all the new, baby leaves are poking out is such a lovely time of year, but it can make for some unpredictability as you try to gauge which trees will turn green first! That is exactly what happened with our original photo location, Jubilee Park, which did not end up turning green in time! I was so thankful that Matteo and Brianne were so flexible and totally on board to switch their location to somewhere I knew would make their photos so much better. Just a couple days before their wedding I found the perfect spot for them, and I couldn’t believe how amazing the light was!! It was just a dream! Everything came together so perfectly and when we had the honour of situating Matteo under those beautiful trees and bringing his bride to him for their first look, he wasn’t the only one who couldn’t stop smiling!!

Speaking of greenery, Grower Direct did such an amazing job with the wedding florals! Right from the first time we met, Brianne expressed how much flowers mattered to her and I was absolutely blown away by how well Grower Direct brought that dream to reality. The creams and light blues were such perfect colours for a light and airy photographer such as myself, and the decorated arch was truly a wonder to behold!

Since Matteo and Brianne’s ceremony was a traditional Catholic one, they shared their own written vows at the beginning of the reception, which was so meaningful. Their reception took place at the Pomeroy with such beautiful decor, and a huge highlight for me was seeing their amazing wedding cake by Pink Oven! Such a special touch. They had such great guests and the dance floor was a huge hit (especially thanks to Flip Entertainment!), so much so that even Grandma and Grandpa could be found out there busting a move!!

Matteo and Brianne, it was such a joy getting to photograph your amazing day!! I loved getting to work with you both. You two are such a great fit for each other and I’m sure this is only the beginning of many wonderful memories you will create as a couple! All the best to you both as you embark on this amazing new journey together!!

Brandon & Cassidy | Demmitt Hall Wedding | Kayla Lynn Photography

They say that good things come to those who wait… and for Brandon & Cassidy, that was definitely proven true! These two have been waiting to tie the knot for a long time, but since Covid had other plans their original wedding day was pushed back an entire year! Can I just say though that after this weekend, I can absolutely agree that these two were worth waiting for!!

All throughout their wedding day, there were so many moments that made you catch your breath. One of my favourites was actually right before Cassidy was about to walk down the aisle, when I suddenly looked up into the sky and there was a gorgeous rainbow shining down!! It was too perfect. Cassidy made such a sweet gesture too for this special moment by asking both her dad and step-dad to walk her down the aisle, which was so touching! Some couples worry that having a first look beforehand will make the ceremony less special, but this wedding was a perfect example of how that does not need to be a concern. It was such a sweet, emotional time and Brandon was clearly feeling all of it as he watched his beautiful bride walk to him!!

Ever since we first started talking about weddings, Cassidy told me how much she wanted to incorporate sunflowers into their day and she did not disappoint!! They were such a beautiful addition to their decor, bouquets, and everything else. I felt like the sunflowers were such a great representation of them and their big day: Beautiful, vibrant, and full of life!

Speaking of full of life, can we talk for a minute about their bridal party? They were so much fun to capture and made it so enjoyable! Sometimes bridal party photos can take a lot of finagling but not with these guys; they were a treat to work with!!

I have to admit though, that as stunning as the rest of the wedding was, the reception really stole the show for me! Cassidy is a first grade teacher, and she asked her students in advance to write down some good marriage advice for them that they could display at their reception tables. This turned out even better than you’re probably imagining  One of my favourite cards read: “They should always say I love you even if they are grumpy. The boy should always buy the flowers. The girl should go shopping for raisins and other stuff. And you have to ask someone to marry you or nobody will.” Needless to say, the crowd was in an absolute uproar over them!!

It wasn’t always just about the laughs, though! As much fun as we had together, I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house when Cassidy and her mother took to the floor for their mother/daughter dance. It was so clear how proud Cassidy’s mother is of her and the love that was radiating from them was so touching. All throughout the evening, you could just feel the love emanating from their friends and family like that. And although they had many guests present, somehow the wedding still felt so intimate and special!

Brandon & Cassidy, it was an absolute pleasure getting to photograph your beautiful wedding day. I’m so happy for you both.  You are such a sweet, thoughtful couple and I loved getting to capture all the big and little moments for you to cherish forever. I hope this is just the beginning of many wonderful adventures together as you start your new life as husband & wife  And, of course, never forget to say “I love you” even if you’re grumpy, buy Cassidy flowers, and go shopping for raisins!!

Keegan & Nicola | Family Farm Wedding

Keegan’s and Nicola’s big day was such a joy to photograph. Their guests and family had waited so long for this day to come, especially after postponing their big day one year later.  These two decided to get married in New Zealand to make it all official, then one year later, celebrated their wedding in Canada where Nicola has been dreaming to have their wedding on their family farm – A place very dear to her that her grandmother once owned.

Leading up to their day, there was a 80%-90% chance of rain. Although it did in fact rain the morning of,  by late afternoon, the clouds were lighter and the sun came out in spurts. About an hour before Ceremony, the couple decided to keep their wedding outdoors on the family farm as the weather was looking to be great! We were all so glad it turned out to be this way as getting married on the farm was very important to Nicola!!

Aesthetically, everything was so beautiful. There were trees from all directions. Lilacs tucked on the side of the house Nicola and Keegan got ready in, that morning. The light was dreamy and there was a beautiful field nearby, accentuating the cloudy sky. Their bouquets had pops of yellow with light greenery. As you can imagine, I had fun getting creative for their big day with all of these elements!

All in all, their wedding day was a mix of love, laughter and connection and I enjoyed capturing it all. Keegan & Nicola, thank you for choosing me to be your photographer and capturing your story! Enjoying reliving your amazing day!!

Josh & Dessa | Jasper Elopement | Kayla Lynn Photography

I had the pleasure of photographing Josh and Dessa’s intimate wedding, in scenic Jasper, a couple months back and it was so amazing in so many ways.  I just had to include them up on the blog, too! I love photographing couples’ wedding days, in a variety of locations, but Jasper is surely one of my favorite places to photograph. Their special day was a bit overcast, the snow covered all the pathways and the mountains were in full view. It was all so lovely for a perfect, Jasper elopement!

After this sweet couple said their “I-do’s”, we walked through the trees to capture photos with their friends, then lastly, just the two of them together. Midway throughout their session time, the light peaked out a bit, creating a light glow around them. As we were about to leave to a nearby Lake for more photos, I was about to pack my gear in my car, but saw the light glowing even MORE behind the grande, pyramid lake mountains. I quickly ran over to Josh and Dessa and we took some photos in a parking lot!  Sometimes the best photos are the ones you never had planned and places you would never expect! Haha.

Josh and Dessa, thank you so much for inviting me to capture your beautiful, micro-wedding, and trusting me to capture these sweet memories for you. It was an absolute honor and privilege. Photographing your special day was the BEST way to start 2022 wedding season. Enjoy some of my favourites!

Josh & Tori | Grande Prairie Wedding Photographer | Kayla Lynn Photography

Today, I am so excited to tell you about Josh’s and Tori’s gorgeous August wedding!! Their day was so full of love and joy –  This beautiful couple and their guests were all so happy to celebrate this very special day!

Josh and Tori are such a sweet, easy going, down to earth couple that love each other and the people around them so deeply! When I first met Josh and Tori, it was very apparent they love to laugh together, and that is one of the many things I just love about Josh and Tori!

Although it rained for a part of their day, I wasn’t going to let that stop them from having gorgeous photos!! They had a beautiful indoor ceremony in their church, then we did all of their family photos in the modern art gallery with their immediate family. The rain held off a little more for their receiving line where all of their guests congratulated the newlyweds.  When it came time for their bridal party and bridal party portraits, I found the most perfect purple brick wall that suited so well with the guys’ black suits and the girls’ burgundy bridesmaid  dresses. The best part? There was an overhang to protect us from the rain!! As soon as we wrapped up photos along the purple brick wall, the rain stopped and we walked along the paths for some photos near tall trees, with my clear umbrellas. Although the rain had cleared for most of their portraits, we still utilized the clear umbrellas because they look so beautiful in photos! It was perfect!

Josh and Tori, thank you for having me capture your very special day. I really enjoyed every second of it.  You two are one of the kindest, warmest, most genuine people and it’s such an honor to have been your wedding photographer! It’s couples like you and families like yours that make me love my job so much. Enjoy scrolling through your wedding gallery with some of my top favorites!

Dreamy Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge Micro-Wedding

jasper park lodge fairmont jasper wedding venue beautiful special day with randy and ashton wedding colors navy and burgundy small mirco intimate wedding day with light and airy Alberta wedding photographer

Randy and Ashton are now married and their day was an absolute dream come true!!

This beautiful couple said their vows at the Jasper Park Lodge Fairmont, one of the most breathtaking venues in all of Canada. However, what might surprise you is that Jasper wasn’t in the original plans! At some point during the wedding planning season, Ashton reached out to me and asked if I would be okay if they moved their wedding location to Jasper instead of Grande Prairie.  That was an immediate YES from me.  I absolutely love the mountains, but I love it even more when couples invite me to capture their love story in one of the most beautiful places in the world. Although I am in the mountains several times a year, Jasper never gets old for me – I love it there so much!

Randy’s and Ashton’s wedding day was so wonderful and the views were incredible. You can bet that made my photographer’s heart very happy. The overcast skies over the deep blue Jasper Park Lodge lake made for the most epic, yet heartfelt photos, throughout the day. Jasper has so much to offer, so we took advantage of several locations for their portraits including Lac Beauvert, photos in the shaded trees, grande mountain views overlooking the Athabasca river and finally, some portraits in front of Lake Annette. It was all so breathtaking.

The lovely couple had only some of their closest family and friends attend their wedding, which truly allowed them to relax, be present and soak in all the moments, on their very special day! I especially loved their “first look” styled ceremony, which allowed for just that! As Ashton finished walking the “aisle”, Randy turned around, his face brightened with such joy and so excited to marry his best friend, Ashton. The happy tears came through and the space got a little emotional. Towards the end of the ceremony, they were SO excited to finally be married and the guests congratulated them through warm smiles and big hugs. Shortly after, they sat inside the Lodge to enjoy some appetizers with all of their guests. I loved how their  intimate wedding truly allowed them to enjoy those special moments in between!

Randy and Ashton, thank you for inviting me to capture your very special day that I will always remember to be one of my favorites. Although the Jasper views were incredible, it’s the couple and their story, you, I loved photographing the most. Your genuine love for each other is so inspiring – I love that you two are always enjoying life to the fullest even in the little moments, together. I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you more as a couple for over a year and so happy that you two are MARRIED! Enjoy many favorites from your special day!

Shawn & Caitlyn | Grande Prairie Wedding Photographer | Kayla Lynn Photography

Shawn and Caitlyn are married!! It has been over a week since their big day and I keep thinking how amazing their day truly was. The day was gorgeous as could be, the couple looked absolutely stunning, and best of all, the party was in full swing! Leading up to their wedding date, there was uncertainty surrounding Covid, but we were all so happy they were still able to have the wedding of their dreams!

There is so much to love about Shawn’s and Caitlyn’s wedding day! The morning of the wedding day, Caitlyn got to share a special first look with her bridesmaids, then her dad! I love how first looks bring much excitement, love and joy before the ceremony ever happens. The bridesmaids squealed with excitement as they saw Caitlyn in her wedding dress for the first time. She looked like an absolute princess! The daddy-daughter first look made them a little teary and was so full of love and joy – Dad’s face lit up in pure excitement seeing his daughter for the first time in her wedding dress. It was so incredibly special to photograph this very memorable moment!

Their wedding day was so aesthetically beautiful in so many ways! Their ceremony was held at gorgeous Serenity Acres, Grande Prairie’s hidden gem of a wedding venue. I love how much variety Serenity Acres has to offer from the abundance of trees, the rustic barn, the friendly horses and the famous lookout view for photos. I especially loved how Shawn and Caitlyn intentionally set up some special photo collages of the two of them amongst the wooded path leading up to their ceremony – Something fun for their guests to enjoy leading up to the ceremony site! The ceremony in itself was so magical. Trees surrounded the couple from all angles, the sun was bright and the couple was so happy to marry each other!

Shawn and Caitlyn, your day was a dream day and I feel so honored to have been chosen to capture it!! Although the day was warm and beautiful, it’s you, the couple, that I loved photographing the most. It’s such a gift when I get to photograph the sweetest couples like you. Thank you for entrusting me with your photo memories. I will always remember how special your day was. Enjoy scrolling through your wedding blog gallery!!

Tayler & Chelsea | Grande Prairie Wedding Photographer | Kayla Lynn Photography

The day has finally arrived! Tayler & Chelsea are married!! This day was a long time coming, especially with Covid trying to mess with their plans, but although it may have changed their original wedding date it couldn’t stop them from having the wedding of their dreams!

Tayler & Chelsea are such a sweet couple and so well suited to each other. We had so much fun throughout their wedding day and it was hard to believe it had been over a year since I last saw them for their beautiful Jasper engagement session! It felt like almost no time had passed at all!! There was so much laughter and joy throughout their entire day, especially thanks to their delightful bridal party who certainly know how to crack them up!

Their wedding day was originally calling for a high chance of rain right up until the last minute, but when their day actually arrived we didn’t have a single drop of rain! We all agreed that it was 100% an answer to prayer, as there had been a LOT of us praying for a clear day! We were actually hot on their wedding day but nobody minded because we had fully expected to get soaked haha!

Their wedding colors were so perfect for a light & airy photography style, with blush bridesmaid dresses and dark blue tones for the guys! There is something about that color combination that just photographs like a DREAM and I think you will agree when you see their pictures that it was absolutely gorgeous!!

There were so many meaningful moments interwoven throughout Tayler & Chelsea’s wedding day. From the beautiful Catholic ceremony to the tail end of their reception, personal touches were everywhere! They have been together for years now, and it was so sweet to get to discover a few highlights of their love story. Their reception venue was the very same location where, dancing at someone else’s wedding, Tayler first told Chelsea that he couldn’t wait to marry her one day. And here they were, years later, on that same dance floor dancing as newlyweds!!

Tayler & Chelsea, I absolutely loved getting to photograph your wedding day!! Congratulations again on embarking on this new adventure together! You are such a beautiful couple and I have full confidence that there are amazing things in store for you. Always keep pursuing each other and be extravagant in giving out grace! 🙂 May God richly bless your marriage!

Enjoy a few of our favorites from your wedding day!

Zack & Jillian | Alberta Wedding Photographer | Kayla Lynn Photography

zack and jillian sheerwood park wedding at the garden center woth light and airy photographer near edmonton alberta summer dusty blue wedding

It’s a very special day when you get to see your step-sister get married to her highschool sweetheart!! Jillian has officially been my step-sister for 10 years now and has been together with Zack before then! Zack’s family thought they’d never see the day where he’d get married. But being with Jillian, how could he resist! They are each other’s best friends, have known each other since high school, have a love for animals and have a little furry family of their own. I was so happy when Zack popped the question. The same night of the proposal, I remember Jillian messaging me, asking me to be their photographer. Of course I said yes!

Although they weren’t able to have the wedding last year, due to Covid restrictions, I can honestly say it was well worth the wait! It was so nice to see family and friends gathered on this very special day, from far and near.  Lots of memories were made and the laughter shared between each other was in full swing. I saw some family members I hadn’t seen in 10 years, and it was the same for many others. The toasts made the guests a little teary; Fun memories of the bride and groom were shared. The reception room was so full of love, so full of joy and so full of excitement for Zack and Jillian. I kept thinking all day “Wow, what an amazing day!”. I wish I could express in words how amazing the day was, seeing my step-sister get married to Zack!

My step-dad, Mark and my mom were the ones that brought our two families together, 10 year ago. I never had a sister here on earth, so Jillian and my other step-sister, Brianna, are very special to me. The days leading up to the wedding day, I was dreaming up all the sweet memories I was going to capture for them. One of my memories from the wedding day was when my step-dad, Mark,  and Jillian shared a first look before the ceremony, as well as their daddy-daughter first dance. When Mark, turned around, his face lit up with such joy seeing his daughter, Jillian, in her wedding dress for the first time. They shared a big, warm hug. Jillian gave a beautiful custom made cloth tissue that says “I’m a bride today, tomorrow a wife, but I’m always your little girls for life”.  It got a little emotional. Jillian shed a tear and Mark was smiling for as long as my shutter kept going!

All in all, Zack’s and Jillian’s wedding day was a dream. There was so much to be a part of and so much to capture. My shutter kept clicking as the day rolled out to be my favorite day of the year. From the details, to the emotion, to the setting, and the joy felt by all, it couldn’t have been more amazing than it was. Zack’s parent raised such a caring and kind man and I am so happy to have him officially a part of the family now (although truly he always was).

Zack and Jillian, I am so incredibly happy for you two. Your day was even more amazing than I could have ever imagined, and it was an honor to be your photographer for your very special day! I really hope you two enjoy scrolling through your wedding blog, reliving your wedding! Enjoy!
