Have I mentioned lately how much I love photographing weddings at Serenity Acres, then at the Bear Creek Golf Club venue for the reception? Because it’s impossible for me to emphasize that enough!! Every time we’re there I’m thrilled with the results, and Tyler & Jessie’s wedding was no exception!
Their wedding day was full of surprises, not the least of which was that even though it was only supposed to rain about two hours AFTER the ceremony, it unexpectedly poured on us during it instead!! I handed out umbrellas to the entire bridal party & couple right before and even Grandpa had his blanket over his head for protection during the worst parts! Rain has the potential to be quite distressing for a couple & bridal party but these guys never let it get to them, they were so upbeat still and I was so impressed by their positive attitudes!
Another super memorable moment was getting the bride’s hair & attire fixed afterwards! First, we called all around Grande Prairie to see if any hairdressers were available and when we couldn’t find any at all, we decided to divide and conquer instead. I ran to Homesense to get a straightener. The girls hit up Walmart for a few hair essentials. And the guys called in family members to the backup photo location! We made quite the team, with the girls blowdrying Jessie’s dress and even her dad stepping in to wring it out! And one of her bridesmaids, Kim, channeled her inner magic and was able to work wonders on Jessie’s hair to bring it back to its former glory!!
Fortunately, it was just a matter of time before eventually the clouds had mercy on us and all our attempts to keep things running smoothly, and the rain dried up! By the time we took the bridal party out to Crystal Lake for the vast majority of the pictures, the rain was totally gone. Such a blessing! And there was even beautiful tall grass there we were able to take advantage of, which makes for such dreamy photos!!
And then it was time for fun and games at the reception for the rest of the night! Bear Creek Golf Club was beautifully decorated and there was so much laughter and joy shared by everyone! Such an enjoyable time getting to celebrate together with no more fear of rain, and instead just getting to bask in the love they all share for the newlyweds!
Tyler & Jessie, thank you for inviting me into your beautiful day in such a special and meaningful way!! I loved getting to be your wedding photographer and getting to share so many special moments with you! I am confident that the two of you will do great things together as a married couple and I am so excited to see where life takes you!
