Kim & Jerrica | Alberta Wedding Photographer | Kayla Lynn Photography

photos with jim and jerrica in banff jasper national park in canada with their wedding and engagement photographer lots of light creams and dusty blue colors at lake minnewankaNot that long ago, we were all sitting at Jeffery’s Cafe, chatting about all the exciting plans ahead for Kim’s and Jerrica’s big day. As we sat together, I found out that they had nearly been 9 years together.  Only 10 minutes into getting to know these two, I already knew how perfect these two are for each other. They told me all about how they first met at work, in the Philippines, then dated long distance across the world for a full year. How Kim surprised Jerrica with flower petals, chocolate, but more importantly, a shiny new ring that would change their lives forever!

Since the first day we met, Kim & Jerrica made it very clear they wanted their engagement portraits in the Canadian Rockies, shot by the crystal clear blue water. A couple months later, I received the news that Kim and Jerrica had to postpone their 9th year anniversary/wedding to a later date, in hopes to celebrate their special day with more family and friends.  So what did we do on their 9th year anniversary / wedding date, instead? We all packed our bags, traveling to one of those beautiful places in the world, to capture their engagement portraits… in Banff! There couldn’t have been a better way to celebrate their original wedding date AND 9th year anniversary, all at the same time.

Everything about their engagement session was so beautiful, in so many ways. Jerrica had a fresh bouquet of flowers made by the talented Willow Flower Co, a dusty blue skirt (snagged from my client closet) and perfectly coordinated outfits to pop against the scenic Lake Minnewanka location in Banff.  Above all, what stood out to me the most, was Kim’s and Jerrica’s love and commitment for one another. Over the last few months, so much has changed with our current covid situation. But what didn’t change is how deeply in love these two are, and that’s all I needed to make these portraits happen!

Kim and Jerrica, you two are the sweetest!  I loved every minute having you in front of my camera, for your 9 year anniversary-engagement, and it makes me even more excited for your Millwood Country Inn wedding, in just a few more months. Here are some of my favorites from our time together,  in the mountains. I hope you love them as much as I do!!

Danial & Shelbee | Grande Cache Wedding | Kayla Lynn Photography

grande cache mountain wedidng with bride and groom adventure in grande cache elopement with danial and shelbee in canoe at grande cache lake

When I first met Danial and Shelbee, they told me one of the sweetest proposal stories I have ever heard.  After a long hike up Mount Hamel, Danial had Shelbee look over a cliff to take a photo.  When she turned around, there was Danial on one knee, asking him to marry her!  Then they proceeded to tell me that they were going to get married on top of a mountain for their wedding day, in Grande Cache.  How sweet!  As you can imagine, I’ve been looking forward to their big day since we first met, last year… and I feel so honored to document their special day for them.

Although their wedding plans were drastically altered due to the virus, I am so thankful they chose to get married this year, regardless of the circumstances.  They had a beautiful wedding with their closest family and friends, enjoying their day to the fullest in so many ways.  Right before the ceremony, Danial & Shelbee shared a first look in front of the glowing lake, mountains surrounding them then they enjoyed a fun canoe ride and picnic for two at Grande Cache Lake!

As we drove closer and closer up the mountain for their ceremony, the views just kept getting better.  I could smell the fresh smell of pine trees, we saw layers of snow layed among the paths and mountains started to appear from left to right.  Then we were finally there… their ceremony site with a beautiful mountain view.  This immediately gave me goosebumps because of how breathtaking the ceremony view was.  The best part?  This was no ordinary mountain view.  As you scroll through the images, the mountain you see as their ceremony backdrop is Mount Hamel, the same mountain where Danial proposed to Shelbee.

To celebrate the reception where they had their toasts, they also shared their first dance and so much more.  Just photographing their reception alone, I could see how loved Danial and Shelbee are!  As I captured the rest of the evening, I couldn’t help but think how much of an honor it is to spend the day with all these sweet people!

Danial and Shelbee, thank you placing your trust in me to capture your beautiful wedding day!  I wish you both nothing but the absolute best, as you start this new adventure as Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose.  Enjoy a few of my favorites from your big day!

Russell & Rebekah | Grande Prairie Wedding Photographer | Kayla Lynn Photography

grande prairie wedding with russell and rebekah with their puppy dog small ceremony covid wedding in alberta with light and airy style

Russell & Rebekah are MARRIED! These two had a beautiful, intimate wedding day, last Saturday! Although it may not be the wedding day that they originally planned, it was beautiful just the same! Russell and Rebekah decided that this pandemic  wasn’t going to get in the way of them getting married! They had their immediate family attend, plus myself during their ceremony, here in Grande Prairie. They set up a tripod to live steam their wedding ceremony, online for all their family and friends to see! Although they were not there in person, they were all celebrating with them, in spirit, online. This blog post is only part 1 of their love story! Once the social distancing restrictions have been lifted, Russell and Rebekah will be having a big celebration where they can hug all of their loved ones. I know that they cannot wait for that day to come!

Something that truly stood out to me is their strong faith and connection with God. Before their ceremony, Russell & Rebekah did a “blind first look” where they held hands between a wall. Their parents joined from both sides, praying for this sweet couple and their future together. It was so touching to see their loving parents join them in prayer, just minutes before their ceremony.

Seeing these two marry each other was such a joy to photograph, for so many reasons!!! They are such a kind, caring couple. Russell is always making Rebekah smile, which happened in many moments of their wedding day, from their ceremony all throughout their wedding day! When these two began their relationship as friends, Russell told Rebekah that he was going to marry her someday and he was right!

Towards the end of our time together, that day, we made our way to Starbucks where Russell would always go see her as she worked there! It was such a fun time getting to document this part of their love story (and their love for Starbucks too)!

Russell and Rebekah, congratulations again on this new adventure! It was a privilege and pleasure to document the first day of it. I am so grateful for the trust you placed in me and I am so excited to share some of my favorite moments and memories with you! We can’t wait to celebrate your marriage and love for one another, with all of your family and friends, again soon! We already know it’s going to be spectacular!

Scott’s & Holly’s Elegant Ryan’s Castle Wedding in Edmonton

ryans castle bnb wedding photos photographer with holly and scott very romantic for their covid 19 2020 wedding

It’s not every day I get to take wedding photos at a castle! The best part? We didn’t have to travel anywhere for their castle photos, since Scott & Holly were able to book in a spot at Ryan’s Castle BnB for their wedding photos, in Edmonton!

We started off the day with the sweetest intimate ceremony, held in their own backyard, with very few family and friends. For those who couldn’t make it to their intimate ceremony, due to Covid-19 and travel, Scott and Holly set up a video chat for their family and friends to join along, too. It was the perfect way to include everyone on their wedding day. The wedding music started playing, the video chat on their laptop was LIVE, so that all of their family and friends could join. Their sweet ring bearer dog, stepped through the doorway with a little basket attached to her, holding the wedding rings.  Holly, in her beautiful princess wedding gown, stepped out of their home, ready to walk down the aisle to meet her groom. As she got closer to Scott, all I could see in that moment was this lovely couple, so full of joy and excitement to marry each other! They truly didn’t let Covid-19 get in the way of being married, and it was such an honor to capture their happy memories!

One of my favorite moments was seeing Scott & Holly, standing side by side, chatting with their family members, through the video chat call, right after their ceremony. Although they couldn’t be with them physically, it was touching to see their family members congratulating them from far away.

I remember months ago, Scott and Holly had mentioned to me they would like their wedding portraits captured at the Ryan’s Castle Bnb, in Edmonton. After hearing the news of Covid-19, they weren’t sure if they would still be able to have their photos captured there, but they were still hopeful. Fast forward a few weeks later, and they received the great news that their dream wedding castle photos were about to come true! It was the most perfect hidden gem for their wedding portraits captured at the Ryan’s Castle Bnb. Capturing their love for each other in front of Ryan’s Castle Bnb, truly felt like you were in Scotland! We even went inside their home, filled with antique items, the most elegant set of stairs and a massive pool area. It was pretty amazing!

Scott & Holly, thank you for reminding me why I feel so blessed to get to do what I do. Capturing your happy memories and love for each other was truly a joy. It’s couples like you that makes this the best joy in the world. We are truly looking forward to capturing your love for one another, with all of your family and friends, again next year!

John & Alisabeth | Grande Prairie Wedding Photographer | Kayla Lynn Photography

Alisbeth and John are married! I am so excited to share their wedding blog with you!!! These two were supposed to get married at the end of June, however with the restrictions put in place due to COVID-19, these two decided to get married almost TWO full months earlier! A few days before the wedding, they messaged me asking if I would photograph their wedding portraits THIS Friday, and I of course said yes! I couldn’t be more excited to photograph their wedding photos.

The morning of the wedding, I was thinking how I could capture the most perfect memories for them. I had an idea…. Wouldn’t it be so sweet to capture John & Alisabeth seeing each other for the first time, in their wedding attire, on their wedding day?  I quickly texted Alisabeth, and they were both on board with having their first look captured.

John stood in a path, full of trees and glowy light. It all felt so real that they were about to get married in short 2 hours from then. As Alisabeth walked towards him, I could see the excitement John had to seeing his bride! As Alisabeth walked closer towards him, she called out his name. He turned around, seeing Alisabeth in her beautiful wedding dress. He let out the biggest smile, and so did she. It was such an honor getting to capture this special moment for them!

Alisabeth & John, thank you from the bottom of my heart for having me capture your wedding memories. We know that although we weren’t able to photograph you with all your guests this year, we are so incredibly excited to capture the rest of your wedding memories with your friends and family next year! We can already tell it’s going to be another amazing day. I hope you love looking back on these portraits, through my lens, as much as I loved witnessing it with my own eyes. We wish you two nothing but the best as you begin your life as Mr. & Mrs. We are truly looking forward to celebrating your love for each other and all the celebrations, in 2021!

Scott + Jessie | Destination Mexico Wedding Photographer | Kayla Lynn Photography

beautiful wedding couple next to the palm trees in mexico cancun for their destination wedding photographer

Just last week, we escaped the winter cold and hopped on a place to one of the most beautiful destinations in the world… Mexico. It was warm, full of sun, sandy beaches and a beautiful ocean view. We spent a full week with family, explored beautiful places such as Tulum and swam through the waves in the ocean. Months leading up to the trip, I frequently had literal dreams of the ocean.  Yes, there were a lot of dreams!! Well, my dreams finally came true! Combining my love for a gorgeous ocean view and photographing a wedding all at the same time, it truly couldn’t get better than that!

People always ask me, “What was your most favorite part about Mexico?”. I can never give just one answer since there is so much to love. I love the ocean, Tulum, warm sand… but above all I loved photographing these memories for my Uncle Scott and his wife, Jessie. Although they are family and I always love photographing family… Scott and Jessie are just so perfect for each other. They’re both so kind, caring and always thinking about the people in their lives. And capturing their love for each other and the celebrating for this beautiful beginning was such a joy.

Their ceremony was held next to the pillars and a blue ocean view, in Cancun. As soon it was time for their wedding portraits, the glowy light was in its prime! We captured their portraits next to some of the tallest palm trees and on the sandy beach with the most perfect ocean backdrop. As the sun was going down fast, my uncle Scott picked up his wife and stood in the warm ocean water. It was truly spectacular and I can already envision these portraits hanging in their home!

Uncle Scott and Jessie, thank you for having me capture one of the best days of your lives. I am so ultimately excited, for you both. Congratulations to the two of you, and welcome to the family Jessie!!!

Braden & Breanna | Grande Prairie Wedding Photographer | Kayla Lynn Photography

grande prairie wedding venue bear creek golf club wedding with breanna and braden in the fall

This is our second last wedding of 2019, and there was no better way than to photograph and celebrate their big day on Thanksgiving weekend! It was the most perfect fall day, filled with golden leaves, a lot of love and a glimpse of sunshine! Braden and Breanna said their “I do’s” in the St. Joseph Catholic Church, with their closest family and friends, along with their sweet daughter, Nora. They are such wonderful parents to their little girl, and it was moving to photograph this exciting chapter in their lives, with their little one by their side!

All the vendors who were a part of their big day was simply satisfying.  Rhonda with Changing Dreams To Reality brought Breanna’s vision to life at the Bear Creek Golf Club Venue, full of greenery, navy blue and gold accents. She put so much work into making their reception venue so perfect, it was a dream photographing all the little details she put together! Carmen’s CraZ Cakes baked the most delicious and stylish cake, full of white and navy flowers to match the overall theme. While the Bear Creek Golf Club catered the most delicious food. The potatoes topped with the creamiest gravy was truly my favorite. It was an exhilarating experience getting to photograph this lovely couple’s wedding day, while getting to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner with all of their guests!

There were so many parts of the day that we absolutely loved capturing, from seeing these two share their first look, Nora peeking behind the podium as their wedding guests watched Braden say his speech, and the dreamy portraits we captured during sunset! The fall colors were truly spectacular, but what stood out to me the most is the joy these two bring in each other’s lives!!

Braden & Breanna, we wish you two a lifetime of love and happiness!! Your wedding day was so beautiful and so full of love! Thank you for allowing us the honor of being a part of your wedding day!

Kyle & Laurella | Grande Prairie Wedding Photographer | Kayla Lynn Photography

grande prairie wedding photographer at kleskun hills with the white vintage cat for kyle and laurella wedding day

Kyle and Laurella once walked Kleskun Hills together, long before they were engaged! They were just friends enjoying the beautiful outdoors, full of wildflowers, trees and hills. They joked that Kleskun Hills would be a nice place to get married someday. Little did they know, many years later Kleskun Hills would be the place they would be saying their “I do’s” to each other.

The day was splendid as can be, filled with warm weather and their closest family and friends. The day started off with Laurella sharing a first look with her father, on the land she grew up for most of her life. She walked towards her dad with her shoes touching the soft grass, one by one. Her dad was facing the trees full of warm sunlight. As she got closer to her dad, she lightly touched her dad’s arm. He turned around and let out one of the biggest smiles, seeing her daughter in her wedding dress. She was gorgeous. And in only one hour she would be marrying the man of her dreams. They then shared a warm hug, and off she drove to get married in the white church at Kleskun Hills!

This was a wedding in which I saw many familiar faces, including Mark and Janaya, one of our past 2017 couples!!  Mark was the MC for Kyle’s and Laurella’s wedding, and I don’t think I laughed as much as I did at a wedding, in a long time! There were plenty of moments in which their guests shared stories from them growing up, up until the lovely couple they are now! Through this time, I got to know more about Kyle and Laurella, and the caring hearts they have for other people. They both deeply love God, and it truly shows that’s who they serve through their kind personalities.

Something that I truly love about Kyle and Laurella is that they are always up for something new and exciting! During their engagement shoot, we spent some time at the park. Then, on their wedding day, we climbed up a hill to capture some of the most beautiful couple portraits, full of fall colors and pretty light!

Kyle and Laurella, thank you for including us on your awe inspiring wedding day! Your constant laughter and joyful spirits can truly brighten anyone’s day, as well as each other’s. We are so incredibly happy to witness your special day and capturing these precious memories from start to finish. We hope that you love your wedding day images as much as we do! Enjoy!!

Jesse & Brieanna | Grande Prairie Elopement Photographer | Kayla Lynn Photography

grande-prairie-elopement wedding photographer at serenity acres in grande prairie alberta fall

Photographing this intimate elopement just fills my heart!!! I have been wanting to photograph another elopement for such a long time and I am so thankful that Jesse and Brieanna allowed me to be a part of their big day!

Shortly after their fifth year anniversary, Jesse and Brienna decided to go to the mountains, while it was winter. Earlier that summer, Jesse and Brieanna went shopping for engagement rings. Jesse wanted to make sure that he chose the perfect ring and that the ring would be the right size from the start! While in Jasper, they went on gorgeous scenic hikes with breathtaking views. Brieanna suspected that he would pop the question while being on their trip! They did multiple hikes, and on each hike, there was always another couple enjoying the view. On their fifth hike, there was a trail that opened up to the most amazing view of Jacques Lake. Jesse got down on one knee, and of course Brienna said yes!

Their ceremony was held at Serenity Acres with their five closest family members, and it was nothing but perfect. There was a gorgeous lookout view, filled with an abundance of fall colors, as the sun glowed lightly from the cloudy skies. Brieanna’s mother added beautiful  florals to their triangular arch, filled with greenery, burgundies and the most pretty exotic florals. Their five closest family members sat in black chairs, as Jesse looked excited to soon see his wife-to-be. Brienna walked down the path with her father, surrounded by colorful trees.  It was at that moment that Jesse smiled so brightly, as he saw her for the first time!

As I captured Jesse’s and Brieanna’s portraits, what stood out to me is how in love these two are! We had a full hour of bride and groom portraits, and they were such naturals!! They just kept smiling, and I loved every minute of getting to capture this joyful part of their lives!

Jesse and Brieanna, photographing your day was an absolute photographer’s dream. I feel so honored to capture a part of your big day, as you begin this exciting chapter in your lives! You two are so perfect for each other, and I wish you two all the happiness in the world as Mr. and Mrs Kroeker!

Steven & Gina | Grande Prairie Wedding Photographer | Kayla Lynn Photography

It all began at the Teepee Creek Rodeo when Steven and Gina met for the first time, years ago. They would have never thought that meeting each other at the rodeo, would lead to something bigger than they imagined… becoming true friends and marrying each other, someday! Since then, they stayed connected and would have endless amount of conversations! They would often text each other throughout the day, with three to five different conversations going on all at the same time. The conversations they shared were so good that oftentimes they would surpass the number of words the texting app would allow for – That in itself proves how perfect these two are for each other!

On their wedding day, we couldn’t be more thrilled than to see this lovely couple get married. The day was perfect; no rain, not too hot, not too cold… just right. Family from all over, came to celebrate this very special day with them. The best part was seeing these two get married in the SAME place they first met, Teepee Creek! We got to witness this couple get married in front of the white church and celebrating with all of their loved ones. From the moment we walked into the getting ready room, to the moment they shared a fun dance with their bridal party… we loved capturing it all.

There were so many things about their big day that was so special. Steven & Gina started off the day by gifting each other personalized gifts, the morning of the wedding day. Steven gifted Gina the most perfect, delicate bracelet, in which she wore the whole day! As you scroll through the images, you’ll notice a black and white photo of Steven, reading from a notebook. This notebook contained pages of handwritten notes Gina had written while they were still dating, leading up to the wedding day! We just loved how thoughtful these two were, not just to each other, but towards each and every single one of their wedding guests. Gina also wrapped her mother’s rosary around her bouquet and included some of her mother’s favorite white carnations. It was the most cherishing way to include her on the wedding day!

Steven & Gina, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for including us on your big day (and giving us permission to eat the most delicious cinnamon buns!) We wish you nothing but the absolute best as you begin this exciting adventure, together!
